The Pogues' Shane MacGowan has returned home from hospital as his wife, Victoria Mary Clarke, shared a touching photo amid his ongoing battle with a brain condition. The 65 year old music legend is reportedly suffering from viral encephalitis - an inflammation of the brain caused by a virus.
Shane has been receiving treatment since last December, with his wife often sharing updates about him on social media. In Victoria’s latest update, she shared a touching photo of the singer beaming in his hospital bed as she shared the news that he had been released from St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin.
Victoria opened up to fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, and said: “Shane got out of the hospital! We are deeply and eternally grateful to all of the doctors and nurses and staff at St Vincent's it's the best!”. Ashe added: “And special thanks to Tom Creagh and Brian Corscadden for your help.” Fans were overjoyed with the news, as one commented: “Fantastic News Victoria I’m delighted to hear this.
Best wishes and health to you and Shane”, while another added: “This is wonderful Victoria, sending lots of love and big hugs to you both, onwards and upwards”.
The Pogues frontman has been in intensive care since September this year, and his family have been hoping that he would be well enough to make it home for Christmas. Last week, Victoria shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, as she posted a picture of herself kissing Shane in his hospital bed and expressed how her love for him is helping her through this tough time.
