Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large The Hollywood Creative Alliance has ended its defamation lawsuit against the Critics Choice Association, as both sides announced Friday that they had reached an “amicable agreement.” In a joint announcement between CCA CEO Joey Berlin and HCA CEO Scott Menzel, the two sides said that the Critics Choice Association will once again allow its members to also be a part of the Hollywood Creative Alliance. Also, Berlin has joined HCA’s advisory committee to “provide guidance on the best practices in awards show production and not-for-profit organization management,” and HCA has agreed to advise CCA on “best accessibility practices at its events.” In January, the Hollywood Creative Alliance (which was formerly known as Hollywood Critics Association) sued the Critics Choice Association after that org told its members that they had to resign from the HCA in order to stay members of the CCA.

Paul Heaton has announced his new Ian Broudie-produced album ‘The Mighty Several’ and has shared a new single ‘Fish ‘N’ Chip Supper’.‘The Mighty Several’ is set for release on October 11 – which is available for pre-order here – and follows his 2022 LP ‘N.K-pop‘ with Jacqui Abbott. The Housemartins and Beautiful South legend’s upcoming album was recorded at Blueprint Studios in Salford and was produced by Broudie of the Lightning Seeds.The album is comprised of 12 tracks, with some featuring special guests such as Rianne Downey (Heaton’s regular live vocalist), Yvonne Shelton and Danny Muldoon. The featured artists are all pictured alongside Heaton on the album’s artwork.

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor At the Monte-Carlo TV Festival Saturday, Lee Jung-Jae, one of the stars of new Disney+ series “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” spoke with Variety about how he prepared for his role as Jedi Master Sol, the strengths of Leslye Headland, the show’s creator, as a showrunner, and the relationship between Sol and Amandla Stenberg’s characters.Lee, who won a Primetime Emmy for “Squid Game,” says that for 50% of “The Acolyte” role he drew inspiration from previous depictions of the Jedi Masters, and “for the remaining 50% I tried to find something that was appropriate to Sol – something that would only incarnate him.” He also consulted with an expert in “Star Wars” lore at Lucasfilm.In “The Acolyte,” the Jedi Masters are shown to be flawed. How does the show present this? “In ‘The Acolyte,’ what it tries to say is that anyone can make mistakes, but you have to accept the mistakes that you make, and put effort into correcting them or developing yourself, because any human being has some unstable thinking,” Lee says.

Michael Mosley’s wife has revealed that the TV doctor “took the wrong route and collapsed” after he was last seen at Agios Nikolaos beach on Wednesday, 5 June, before he went for a walk to the centre of the Greek island of Symi.
