‘The Mandalorian’s Simon Kassianides Signs With Alchemy Entertainment

The writers strike may bring about a disturbance in the force. The current work stoppage already has disrupted the production of several TV series; Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian may join the last.

Naman Ramachandran The late Oscar-winning thespian Christopher Plummer delivers his final performance in animated feature “Heroes of the Golden Masks,” also starring Patton Oswalt and Ron Perlman. Inspired by the ancient bronze masks of Sanxingdui discovered on the archaeological site of Guanghan in the Sichuan Province in the late 1980s, the film centers on Charlie, a wise-cracking, homeless, American orphan who is magically transported to the ancient Chinese kingdom of Sanxingdui, where a colorful team of superheroes need his help to defend the city from a brutal conqueror. Charlie joins the heroes and secretly schemes to steal the priceless golden masks that grant them their powers.

John Travolta (Grease) and Katherine Heigl (Firefly Lane) have boarded the rom-com That’s Amore!, written and to be directed by two-time Academy Award winner Nick Vallelonga (Green Book), with Christopher Walken (Severance) also in talks to star.

It’s not hard to picture the team behind HBO’s “White House Plumbers” finishing work on an episode of “Veep” and picturing that stellar comedy’s tone being applied to the idiots behind the Watergate break-in. (The director of all five episodes here is David Mandel, showrunner on that massive critical darling.) And as the country once again goes through considerations of impeachment and general malfeasance in the highest offices of the United States, the timing seems just right for a scathing look at one of the key points in our continuing disillusionment with the government.

The supporting cast includes Ben Lawson, Beau Garrett and Yael Yurman.Netflix split the second season into two parts, with the first nine episodes dropping in December 22.

A pre-taped message from Harrison Ford introduced an extended action clip from Lucasfilms’ highly anticipated Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny during Disney’s CinemaCon presentation here in Las Vegas this morning. Said the veteran actor, “Hello CinemaCon! Playing Indiana Jones all these years has meant the world to me. (The movies) have adventure and heart — and for some reason snakes.” In a charming call back to the original Raiders of the Lost Ark, Ford added, “Why did it have to be snakes?”

The Clash’s Paul Simonon has stated that he wouldn’t have reunited the band for £1million.The iconic punk bassist has explained that while the members were contemplating a reunion in the ‘90s – after parting ways in 1986 – there were numerous reasons why the prospect never materialised, including his feud with bandmate Mick Jones.“There was talk between me, Joe [Strummer], Mick and Mick’s manager, Gary Kurfirst, who was looking after Mick in B.A.D. But it didn’t happen for lots of reasons,” he explained to MOJO.
