Drive around the leafy lanes of Christleton in Cheshire and it's not hard to see why this village was selected as one of the best places to call home in the UK. Christleton was listed, along with five other areas of the north west, in The Sunday Times' Best Places to Live 2022 guide last weekend.
But it's long been in demand as a place to settle in Cheshire - not just for its idyllic location, but because it has lots of great amenities for families too. And while it has all the quaint chocolate box charms of a village, drive just three miles out of the lanes and you are in the heart of the historic city centre of Chester.
In the village centre you'll find the popular dog-friendly pub, the Ring O Bells, known for its Sunday roasts, large outdoor seating areas and a brilliant play area at the rear for kids. Meanwhile the owners branched out last year and took over a former hairdressers across the road to become the village's first dedicated coffee shop, Koow.

There's a traditional village green where you'll even find the historic water pump, across from the 15th century St James Church. Stroll away from the church and you'll find the picturesque duck pond, known locally as The Pit.
Further along the lane and there is another of Christleton's brilliant amenities for kids - a huge free play area with climbing rocks, slides and fort. It's right next to playing fields with simply stunning views out across rapeseed fields and across the Cheshire plains.
