Neighbours might be ending, but the legacy of the long-running soap lives on thanks to all the epic careers it helped to kick-start. It’s a highlight of the Cheshire town’s annual event calendar and this year’s event will be the first for three years due to the pandemic …and it’s back with a bang!
There will be rides and attractions for all the family, plus a free firework display on Sunday night, May 1.
Standing over 100 feet tall, the Giant Wheel will offer spectacular views of the surrounding area. This includes not only Knutsford but also Tatton Park, Manchester Airport, the M6, M56 and maybe even Jodrell Bank.
Rollercoaster fans can experience the Batman spinning coaster. New for 2022, it features over 700 feet of twists and turns. Each car seats a family of four as they slide, spin and dip their way along its course.
Also new at Knutsford May Day Fun Fair this year is the towering Police Station Fun House.
Inside this wacky world of law enforcement, young fair-goers will find four floors of obstacles to tackle. These include moving walkways, a spinning barrel, punch bags, plus a huge spiral slide from the top floor to the bottom.
Among the other attractions will be the awesome Booster Maxxx. At 55m/180ft, the spinning ‘propeller’ is one of the tallest travelling rides in the UK today.
From the Waltzer to the Dodgems, Helter Skelter and Hook-a-Duck, all the fairground favourites will be there too. Plus over 40 rides and attractions just for the little ones.
The accompanying Royal May Day Festival takes place this year on Saturday, May 7.
Dating back to 1864, it includes a procession through the town centre. This culminates on The Heath, where traditional Maypole dancing and other activities feature alongside the fair.
The Heath is easy to find, right in the centre Knutsford (WA16 0GJ) – and just 30 minutes from Manchester.
