Updated government guidance issued on Friday - but not publicly announced - is urging people in Bolton and seven other areas affected by the Indian coronavirus variant to avoid travel.
The fresh advice – which is not underpinned by law – was published on the gov.uk website without an official announcement and only emerged on Monday, when the M.E.N reported on it.
