After just a year of dating, The Chase's Mark Labbett has split from presenter Hayley Palmer and there are surprising reasons why he decided to call time on their relationship.
The sad news comes just a week after the couple celebrated their first anniversary together which saw them recreate their first date with a trip to the beach. Marking their first milestone, the 58 year old, who is known as The Beast on the ITV quiz show, shared a snap alongside Hayley, 42, and wrote the caption: "One Year Anniversary. Same beach, same bench :)".
Now, it has been reported that their 16-year age gap and different lifestyles contributed to their split. A source told The Sun: "Mark had a lovely time with Hayley and has a lot of respect for her but they wanted different things. She loves getting dressed up and going out to parties and showbiz events, whereas he prefers to stay at home." "Mark felt there was too much of an age gap between them for long-term success.
They are still friendly." The source added that when he's not on TV, Mark enjoys a quieter life while spending time with his son.
OK! has reached out to Mark and Hayley's representatives for comment. Despite his split from Hayley, they said the quiz master is "hopeful" he'll meet someone in the future he can "settle down" with. A spokesperson confirmed Mark's split from the Sky TV radio presenter in a short statement, while Hayley took to Instagram to reveal the sad news.
She told her followers: "It is with regret I announce that myself and Mark have gone our separate ways. We had the best year together, and I truly wish him all the very best for the future." She ended the statement with, "Off I go to listen to Taylor Swift" followed by a broken heart emoji. Mark and Hayley
