Stoke City have been languishing in the Championship for four years now, having been relegated from the Premier League in 2018 following 10 straight seasons at that level. The Potters have struggled to make an impact in the second tier since they dropped back, with all four seasons being mid-table finishes and multiple managers have tried and failed to get them towards the play-offs. Michael O’Neill’s time in charge came to an end last month, and coming in in his place was Alex Neil, who is already getting to grips with his squad and has recorded a thumping victory over Hull City.

It has been something of a mixed start to the Championship season for Gary Rowett’s Millwall team. Having shown signs of potential to push for a top six spot during the previous campaign, and despite a reasonably solid transfer window, the Lions have yet to really get going on a consistent basis. But with the table still rather congested at this early stage, the London club are still not far away from another push for the play-offs.

Huddersfield Town are a club with plenty of history behind them, having won the old First Division title three times and then gone on to break back into the top flight under David Wagner to have their first crack at the Premier League. The Terriers have upset the odds time and time again and did so again in the last campaign. Despite many tipping them to be relegation candidates, the side flew up the standings and ended the season in third.
