‘The Boys’ Star Antony Starr Teases What’s Next After Homelander’s Bloody ‘Bad Room’ Massacre: ‘It Can’t Get Weird Enough or Dark Enough for Me’

Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer SPOILER ALERT: This story contains major spoilers from Episode 4 of “The Boys” Season 4, currently streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video. It’s been nearly a week since Episode 4 of “The Boys” Season 4 dropped on Amazon’s Prime Video, and fans are still reeling from the bloody mess of corpses Homelander (Antony Starr) left in the Vought Tower labs’ “bad room” after his big return to his old stomping grounds. The episode revealed exactly the extent to which Homelander hasn’t recovered from the messed-up experiments conducted on him as a lab-created supe kid, thanks in part to Starr’s own suggestions for how Homelander would interact with the Vought employees who were the closest things he had to family as a child — and who were also his torturers.

Henry Mancini’s 100th Is a Cause for Celebration, as the Hollywood Bowl Sets Sail Down ‘Moon River’ for Season’s Opening Night

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Before John Williams became the flagship film composer-conductor anyone thought of when they thought about the Hollywood Bowl, that honor belonged to Henry Mancini. And in some years, when Los Angeles is particularly lucky, it still does, even though the scorer behind “The Pink Panther,” “Days of Wine and Roses” and other classic scores has been gone for 30 years now. This Sunday, the LA Phil will devote the Bowl’s traditional opening night to a 100th birthday celebration for the man who, arguably more than any other, turned movie scores into a truly populist artform… and who conducted at the Bowl 29 times.

Variety’s Showrunners Sitdown: ‘The Boys’ Boss Eric Kripke on Writing to the Actors’ Strengths and Not Wanting to ‘Make Edgelord Material for Incels’

Kate Aurthur administrator Two days before Season 4 of “The Boys” premiered on June 13, showrunner Eric Kripke announced on social media that the upcoming fifth season of the Prime Video series for Amazon will be its last. Kripke hedged on the question when asked about it for this interview, which took place a few weeks before his announcement; but he did state clearly that he doesn’t want “The Boys” ever to be “turning into the thing that we’re parodying” — that is, an endless stream of superhero content that has flooded pop culture for years. “It’d be a huge bummer if of all shows, this is the show that sells out,” Kripke said, “so I’m going to try.” Of course, the end of “The Boys” next season won’t mean the end of the whole universe around the show, which is based on the comics series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

Tomer Capone Talks Evolving Frenchie For Season 4 Of ‘The Boys’, What’s Next After The Superhero Satire Ends & Navigating Life As An Israeli Actor

EXCLUSIVE: Tomer Capone has long been a household name on Israeli screens, having worked on a number of successfully exported TV shows such as Hostages, political thriller Fauda and When Heroes Fly. He won an Ophir (equivalent to an Oscar in Israel) after he was handpicked by Natalie Portman for the romantic lead in her directorial debut A Tale of Love and Darkness. But when he was cast as series regular Frenchie (or Serge) in Amazon’s hit series The Boys, he was catapulted into the mainstream. His depiction of Frenchie, a former assassin with a murky past who is mired by deep childhood trauma, and the character’s heartfelt relationship with Kimiko (played by Karen Fukuhara) has offered audiences moments of respite from the superhero satire’s often dark, violent and lewd storyline.
