Speaking to Vulture, Kripke expressed frustration over streaming series being designed as elongated movies and not episodic television.“The downside of streaming is that a lot of filmmakers who work in streaming didn’t necessarily come out of that network grind,” Kripke said.

While it’s early for a renewal decision, I hear the streamer is happy with the first season, and a writing room is starting soon in anticipation of a Season 2 pickup. It will be led by executive producer Michele Fazekas, who I hear will serve as sole showrunner.

Rosemarie DeWitt (The Staircase), Rob Benedict (Supernatural), and Elliot Knight (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II) have joined the Season 4 cast of Amazon’s The Boys. DeWitt will play Hughie’s (Jack Quaid) mom opposite returning series star Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) who plays Hughie’s dad.

It’s a sad day for Supernatural fans.
