The Beatles album inspired chart-topping grunge hit

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr have each inspired generations of music. In turn, Lennon's idol was Elvis Presley, though when they finally met in 1965, he described the encounter as "cr*p," in a classic example of never meeting your heroes. Nirvana's musicians Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic never met any of their Beatles inspirations when the band was still going before 1994, but Grohl has opened up about their impact on the group on several occasions, particularly for himself and Cobain.
He even said: "I never had a teacher - I just had Beatles records. "The Beatles back catalogue is extensive, with 21 studio albums, six live albums, 54 compilations, 36 extended play singles, 17 box sets, 22 video albums and 68 music videos. With such a massive selection, it can be hard to decide what should be on top.
For Cobain, there was a clear winner. The singer once made a list of his top 50 albums of all time, with only one Beatles record making the ranking. At the number 37 spot came Meet the Beatles!, the second album the group released in 1964 following the success of Please Please Me in 1963.
Cobain loved Meet the Beatles! so much that he once played it on repeat for an entire day. Following this epic binge session, he wrote the Nirvana song About A Girl, according to Billboard. However, the song was still about a very specific person.
