Golden Globe winner Jeremy Allen White endured more heat than a Chicago kitchen in the press room for his near bare Calvin Klein underwear ad, as well as Carmy’s next steps with Claire in season 3.
Recap: while trapped in the walk-in fridge, Carmy begins rambling how his burgeoning relationship with Claire (Molly Gordon) is distracting him from his culinary calling. Claire overhears him, fleeing the venue in tears. After being taken to task for his behavior by Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Carmy is of course quick to kick himself, all the more so when he discovers a voicemail left for him earlier in the day by Claire in which she admits that she’s fallen in love with him.
So what’s up with Carmy and Claire after the former gets out of the fridge?
“I truly have no idea,” says White, “but as Jeremy, a reader of scripts and watcher of show, I think she deserve an apology at the very least. So I hope there’s some version of that when I read scripts again.”
But forget about season 3 of The Bear, which is expected to return to production in February, and the fact that Allen won his second Golden Globe for the show, as tonight was all about his six-pack.
Asked one reporter in the room, “In the week you deliver the most-talked about Calvin Klein underwear campaign in years, you win this as well. When you go on the red carpet, when you speak to all of us, how surreal is it that we’re talking more about your underwear and six-pack rather than your astonishing, powerful performance?”
“This is strange — I promise — um, uh, I don’t know. It’s been a weird couple of days. It is bizarre doing a Calvin Klein ad, and now even more bizarre having it come out, but everything feels OK for now.”
