‘The Bachelorette’ Season Finale Tops Tuesday Ratings; ‘NeXt’ Ends Steady

The 25th season of The Bachelor kicked off Monday and, as expected, topped the ratings heap in broadcast primetime. The ABC reality competition delivered a 1.2 in the adults 18-49 demographic while 5 million viewers tuned in to watch a group of women make a memorable — and sometimes desperate — first impression on Matt James, the first Black bachelor in the franchise’s history.

As the networks relax in the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, there has ben some fresh fare that pops up. On ABC on Tuesday night, that meant the ABC News special The Year: 2020, a recap of a year most equate to terms like “dumpster fire” or “trainwreck.” Either way, 2020 is one we will never forget–  whether you want to or not.

As families begin their holiday festivities, ABC started its Wednesday night with a presentation of the classic 1970 stop-motion feature Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town narrated by Fred Astaire, which earned a 0.5 in the adults 18-49 demographic and 2.82 million viewers. It was followed by even more Yuletide cheer with a fresh episode of The Great Christmas Light Fight (0.5, 2.72M), primetime’s only original program last night.
