Lily Gladstone is making Oscars history!
Wow. The Oscar nominations dropped Tuesday morning, and there were some pretty big omissions — led, of course, by the magical Margot Robbie, who inexplicably got shut out of the Best Actress race.
the 2024 Oscar nominations were released Tuesday, movie fans heard not so much a hot field of contenders, but a list of losers. So many names, such dismal chances. Readers Jack Quaid and Zazie Beetz might as well have said, “And now, ‘Oppenheimer’… and everybody else.”Christopher Nolan’s epic film about the father of the atomic bomb scored 13 nods, the most of any movie, and is a shoo-in for Best Picture and Director. Two of the acting races are also sewn up: Supporting Actress (Da’Vine Joy Randolph in “The Holdovers”) and Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr. in — what else? — “Oppenheimer”).
As predicted, there were few major surprises with the announcement of the 76th Academy Awards nominations, but there were enough to raise an eyebrow or two. Of course, “Oppenheimer” and “Poor Things” dominated the proceedings with 13 and 11 nominations with “Killers of the Flower Moon” earning 10 nods and “Barbie” taking 8.
2024 Oscar nominations are here, and the snubs are brutal – including Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio and more. Many of the nominations were expected: “Oppenheimer” got a total of 13 nods – including “Best Actor” for Cillian Murphy, “Best Supporting Actor” for Robert Downey Jr. and “Best Director” for Christopher Nolan.
While Barbie received the most nods any film had ever received in the history of the Critics Choice Awards with a whopping 18 nominations, it was Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer that cleaned up on the night. The 29th Critics Choice Awards took place in California on Sunday (January 14), with Oppenheimer stealing the show taking home eight gongs.

Charles Melton has had a good year; although saying farewell to Riverdale hit him hard, he went head-to-head with Natasha Lyonne for an episode of Poker Face and earned a Golden Globe nomination for his role in Todd Haynes’ May December. Sandwiched between Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore, the U.S.-born actor with Korean roots handled himself impeccably, playing the husband of Gracie (Moore), an older woman once sent to prison for molesting him as a minor. Melton brings a diffident grace to the part, which is crucial to the film’s unfolding when actress Elizabeth Berry (Portman) turns up.

Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor The SAG Awards nominations provided an exciting blend of usual suspects and stunning omissions. For some awards season strategists — particularly the ones behind critically adored films like “Anatomy of a Fall” and “May December” — there’s no choice but to ask, “what happened?” The SAG Awards’ pearl anniversary brought expected mentions for Oscar contenders such as the two summer smash hits “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer,” leading the tally for all movies with four nominations each. In addition, the crime epic “Killers of the Flower Moon” and the satirical dramedy “American Fiction” managed three mentions.
