The Delta variant is now the dominant variant of coronavirus in the UK - making up 99 per cent of confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus across the country.
The most recent data from Public Health England shows that 75,953 confirmed and probable cases of the Covid-19 Delta variant have now been found in the UK – up by 33,630, or 79 per cent, on the previous week.

Covid-19 continue to rise with the latest figures showing an increase to 10,185 detected cases. It comes as UK cases of the variant have risen almost four-fold in less than a month.Public Health England figures show a total of 161,981 confirmed and probable cases of Delta variant have now been identified in the UK - up by 50,824, or 46%, on the previous week.
