Major supermarkets across the UK are pulling packets of jelly sweets from shelves over fears they could cause vomiting and stomach pains in certain customers.
Confectionary brand Mondelez has issued an urgent recall for its The Natural Confectionery Co. Jelly Snakes due to an undeclared ingredient. The sweets can be found in major supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons.
As reported by the Mirror, some packs accidentally contain Liquorice Allsorts sweets, which contain wheat which isn’t mentioned on the label. This means that the product is unsuitable for anyone with coeliac disease, or an intolerance or allergy to wheat.
The product recall currently only affects 150g pack with the below batch codes and best before dates:
Batch code: OSH0B35072 (best before December 16, 2024)
Batch codes: OSH0F35111, OSH0B35112, OSH0F35112 (best before December 17, 2024)
Batch code: OSH0F35121 (best before December 18, 2024)
Symptoms of anyone suffering a gluten allergy can vary, but the most common symptoms include vomiting and pain. That's why customers are being urged not to consume the sweets and to return them to the store purchased for a full refund.
