More than a year on, Ellis Taylor appeared in court in Manchester on Monday.
Taylor, 19, of Lawnhurst Avenue, Wythenshawe, Manchester, pleaded guilty at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court to one count of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
No update as to the victim's condition was given in court. Taylor was remanded on bail. The case was adjourned for a sentencing hearing at the same court listed for April 15.
No further details were heard and judge Bernadette Baxter ordered pre-sentence reports on Taylor to be carried out ahead of the hearing.
Judge Baxter told him: "I am sure you have been advised as to what the ultimate sentence will be - which is custody. You will be on bail until April 15."
A statement from Greater Manchester Police said at the time: "Officers were called at approximately 5.10pm this evening, Tuesday 24 January, to reports of a stabbing on Hankinson Way, Salford.
"A man was found with a wound to his neck. Colleagues from North West Ambulance Service were in attendance and took the man to hospital for treatment on his injuries, which are not currently thought to be life-threatening."
