Ted Hope Steps Down at Amazon Studios, Signs First-Look as Producer

Dave McNary Film ReporterAmazon Studios has acquired worldwide rights to an untitled voting rights documentary for Story Syndicate centering on insights from politician, lawyer and author Stacey Abrams.Following a theatrical run, the film will be released on Amazon Prime Video later this year. It’s directed by Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker Liz Garbus and Lisa Cortés.

The doc comes from Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker Liz Garbus and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Lisa Cortés, and the plan is for Amazon to release the doc in theaters prior to this year’s U.S.

Jennifer Todd and Michael De Luca's joint credits include the Austin Powers movies and the 89th and 90th annual Academy Awards telecasts. Now, the duo are set to reteam with Todd inking a first-look deal with MGM, where De Luca is the recently instated chairman of the film group.

Duncan Clark, Universal’s president of international distribution, will step down from his role this August, Donna Langley said in a letter to staff on Tuesday.Clark is a 41-year veteran of the industry and has been with Universal for the last 14 years.

Graham Henderson, president and CEO of the Music Canada board of directors, is stepping down from his post after more than 15 years in the role, the organization and Henderson jointly announced Thursday (May 28). Graham will continue to serve as CEO until June 17, 2020.

Ted Hope, co-head of movies Amazon Studios, has decided to exit his post at the company to go back to producing and will enter a multi-year, first-look deal with Amazon, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.
