Taylor Swift turned down an opportunity to appear on Meghan Markle ’s podcast Archetypes, it has been alleged. The US singer, who is set to bring her The Eras Tour to Europe next summer, is reported to have been asked to appear on the Duchess of Sussex’s podcast and received a “personal letter” from Meghan.
According to reports published in the Wall Street Journal, Taylor received an invitation from 41 year old Meghan to appear on the podcast, which had seen celebrities including Paris Hilton, Jameela Jamil and Serena Williams talk to Meghan about their lives. However, according to the allegations, the singer declined the offer through a representative.
OK! has contacted representatives for Meghan Markle and Taylor Swift for comment. The reports come after it was announced in a statement on Thursday 22 June that Archewell Audio and Spotify had parted ways after one season of the podcast.
Spotify, along with Meghan and Harry's audio production company Archewell Audio released a joint statement, which said they had “mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.” Meghan and Harry signed a reported $20million deal with the streaming giant and the Archetypes podcast in late 2020, with the podcast itself starting in August 2022. Since making its debut last year, Archetypes produced 12 episodes which all looked at “labels that try to hold women back” and featured interviews with celebrities, historians and experts about the history of stereotypes used against women.
