The co-executive producer of popular US comedy series Scrubs has been charged with 18 counts of sexual assault. Eric Weinberg, 62, is said to have “relied on his Hollywood credentials” to lure young women to photo shoots where he is alleged to have assaulted them, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney.The charges stem from alleged incidents involving five different women in the years between 2014 and 2019.
Weinberg has been charged with six counts of sexual penetration by use of force, four counts of oral copulation, three counts of forcible rape, and two counts of sexual battery by restraint. He also faces one count each of assault by means of force likely to cause great bodily injury, attempted sexual penetration by use of force and false imprisonment by violence.
He has since been released from police custody, following his arrest in July, after posting a $5 million (£4.4 million) bond. He is expected to be arraigned on October 25 at the Foltz Criminal Justice Centre in downtown Los Angeles.
According to the DA’s office, on two separate occasions in 2014, Weinberg approached women telling them he was a photographer. In each instance, he continued communication with the victims, eventually inviting them to his home, where he is accused of sexually assaulting them.
In 2017, the defendant allegedly used the same ruse to bring another young woman back to his house, where he is, again, accused of sexually assaulting her.The producer is further accused of sexually assaulting another two women in separate incidents in 2018 and 2019, says the DA’s office.. Netflix has announced that it will be launching a new game development studio which will be led by Overwatch executive producer, Chacko Sonny.During the TechCrunch Disrupt 2022 event yesterday (October 18), Netflix’s vice president of games Mike Verdu shared the news of the new California studio, which is currently unnamed (via VGC).“We are starting another organic new studio in Southern California, this time around Chacko Sonny, who oversaw production on God of War Ascension for Santa Monica and oversaw a portfolio of their games, and then was executive producer of a little game franchise called Overwatch,” Verdu said.“He could have gone anywhere, he could have raised money, he could have done anything and he chose to come here. Doelger helms as executive producer and showrunner, alongside the executive producers Ute Leonhardt, Rafferty Thwaites, Jan Wünschmann and Robert Franke. Shooting takes place at various locations in Rome, Northern Italy, and Leipzig in Germany.
