Members of the Royal Family often brush shoulders with famous celebrities and legends of stage and screen, but it is very rare for them to become one of the stars themselves. While two actresses - Meghan Markle and Sophie Winkleman - have previously married into the family, the public are not used to seeing royals dazzle on the big screen.
The royal rulebook was thrown out, however, in 2009 when Princess Beatrice made a notable cameo in a new film about her lookalike great-great-great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria.
Owing to her personal interest in the famous monarch, Princess Beatrice's mother, Sarah, Duchess of York, served as a producer on this movie. Young Victoria was released in 2009 and follows the life the 18-year-old Queen Victoria led in the first years of her reign.
It shows the political contentions the Queen faced as her mother and her comptroller, Sir John Conroy, battled to get her to sign a regency order and also places a special focus on her early relationship with Prince Albert.
The film stars Emily Blunt as Queen Victoria and Rupert Friend as Prince Albert. Other famous cast members include Jim Broadbent, Paul Bettany, Mark Strong and Miranda Richardson.
Bringing a touch of royalty to the movie, Princess Beatrice has a brief cameo at the beginning of the film as one of The Queen's Ladies-in-Waiting in the Coronation scene. Sarah, Duchess of York’s profound interest in Queen Victoria's life and history is well-known - so much so, that she named her two daughters after her.
Princess Beatrice was the name of the Queen’s youngest daughter and all three of Princess Eugenie’s names (Eugenie Victoria Helena) follow the same trend. Eugenie was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria (she later became Queen Eugenie

speculation over Kate Middleton and King Charles’s respective health woes continue to swirl. With senior members of the royal family pulling back from the royal fold one at a time over a myriad of health issues, the royal family has faced a difficult start to the year. And according to Kay, the family needs to get their “act together or lose public confidence” before it’s too late.“The photograph issue, while small in itself, nevertheless exposed tensions that lie close to the surface in the family, as well as the fragility of an institution that for decades seemed impervious to any external threat,” Kay wrote in the Daily Mail.“But if we are not quite at the 11th hour, we are perilously close. There still may be time for the high tide of public disapproval to recede, but the cost to the royal image and to individual reputations has been high.”“Yet the problems go beyond the two medical emergencies.
Following the tragic death of Lady Gabriella Kingston's husband, Thomas Kingston, members of the Royal Family gathered for his funeral today (Tuesday, March 12).The event was held in private, but the family have released details of the service and who was in attendance. Meghan and Harry have a "golden opportunity" to reunite with the royals thanks to Kate Middleton, according to an expert. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have become estranged from 'The Firm' in recent years, but that could all change after the family was plunged into chaos when the Princess of Wales released an edited family photograph on Mother's Day.
Even though he was third in line to the throne when he was born on 10 March, 1964, the Duke of Edinburgh never faced any realistic prospect of becoming King in the UK - but he almost did abroad! This surprising revelation comes from an odd request made to Prince Edward back in 1994.The Line of Succession is something that can't be changed based on personal preference, but it seems one foreign country didn't quite understand this. In 1994, during a time of big changes in their country, Estonia asked Prince Edward to become their head of state. Buckingham Palace kindly turned down this "charming" offer.
The start of 2024 has "proved exceptionally difficult" for the Royal Family, expert Jennie Bond has told OK! King Charles also underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate and has since confirmed he has cancer.
toward Prince Harry. Meghan Markle is reportedly trying to mend bridges with her royal in-laws, including King Charles and Kate Middleton, according to a royal expert.
Celebrity Big Brother fans have called out Gary Goldsmith, Kate Middleton's uncle, for "delusional" comments he made on the show. The 58 year old is one of CBB's celebrity contestants, and he hasn't held back on his Royal Family stories and musings. During a chat with housemate Sharon, Gary claimed he felt like the "black sheep of the Royal Family" but it didn't go down too well with the show's viewers.
People for its Wednesday cover story. The comment comes one day after Middleton’s name was listed on the official UK Army website as leading the annual review of soldiers at Horse Guards Parade in London on June 8, following her January abdominal surgery. However, her office at Kensington Palace said the army hadn’t consulted them about her appearance.Middleton’s name has now been removed from the website.Details on Middleton’s surgery have remained private, with the palace stating that it was “successful.”“It is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” the statement said in January.
joined 12 other celebrities on the British reality TV show as his niece continues to recover from surgery. After settling into the house, Goldsmith, 58, spoke to fellow celeb Sharon Osbourne about his views on the royals and what it’s like being an uncle to the Princess of Wales, who was seen for the first time on Monday since December. As well as claiming that Middleton’s sister-in-law Meghan Markle changed the royal family’s dynamics, the outspoken Goldsmith bizarrely claimed that the Duke of Sussex, 39, “will come back and be part of the gang again one day.”“I have an opinion that Harry was really, really really loved and when they were a threesome, so Kate, William, and Harry they looked really comfortable together,” he told Osbourne, 71. “Then suddenly there’s an extra dynamic that comes in, puts a stick in the spokes and creates so much drama that I don’t genuinely think is there, and rewrote the history, saying how unhappy he was and I just don’t think that’s fair,” he said of Markle, admitting that he’s never met her.“I mean you can’t throw your family under the bus in such a dramatic style, then write books about it and expect to be invited round for Christmas.”“I think it’s really sad.
he undergoes cancer treatment, and Kate Middleton sitting out royal engagements until after March 31 following her abdominal surgery, the royals are having to undergo a major reshuffle. As they navigate their health woes, the Duke of Sussex, 39, has reportedly offered up his services to the royal household, who will “manage” without, according to Grant Harrold, who worked for Charles for seven years when he was the Prince of Wales.“I’m sure Harry has offered to help, but I think at the moment they’re able to carry on and manage as they are — other members of the royal family are available to step in while key figures are recuperating, so it’s unlikely Harry will need to,” Harrold exclusively told The Post.“There’s obviously quite a few members of the royal family — they’re certainly not short of them — who can step up when in need. It’s not impossible for Harry to get more involved, though.”Harrold this week said he believes that the father of two will happily ditch California and step up to help out the royal family — should that be something they’d want him to do.However, it seems as though Harry’s help is not needed, as Prince William, 41, this week took the reins along with Princess Anne, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh while the King receives treatment.Queen Camilla, 76, for her part, has reportedly jetted off on a sunny vacation this week after an “exhausting” few weeks of extra official engagements.“As far as the King goes, he’s taking some time out while he has treatment.
Gary Goldsmith, a contestant on the latest instalment of ITV's Celebrity Big Brother, has defended his niece, the Princess of Wales, against accusations made by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. He expressed his belief that they unfairly criticised her, and also dismissed claims made in the Dutch version of Omid Scobie's book Endgame that King Charles and the Princess of Wales questioned what skin colour Prince Archie might have. The 58 year old's comments came after a source told a newspaper that the CBB production team "love" Gary, who is the younger brother of Kate's mum, Carole Middleton, because he "won't hold back" when it comes to talking about about his royal connections.
Gary Goldsmith is one of the names on the rumoured Celebrity Big Brother line up, but it doesn't look like he's got the support his family behind him.The controversial businessman is uncle to the Princess of Wales and is famously outspoken. Gary, 58, has reportedly "infuriated" his older sister Carole Middleton, 69, and her husband Michael, 74, with his latest TV venture. The couple have "read Gary the riot act" and are "not happy" about his decision to take part in the show, according to The Sun. "Gary said he’s been read the riot act by Kate’s mum Carole and her dad Michael," a source said.
step up to help out the royal family — should that be something they’d want him to do.With King Charles out of action as he undergoes cancer treatment, and Kate Middleton sitting out of royal engagements until after Easter following her abdominal surgery, the Firm is having to undergo a major reshuffle.“It’s difficult to tell and it’ll be interesting to see what goes on moving forward,” Harrold exclusively told The Post.“Harry is a Counsellor of State, so he is still a very senior member of the royal family and if the time comes, he would step up if he needs to.”“While Harry might not be next in line to the throne, he’s not that far down the line of succession so his importance to the royal family shouldn’t be overlooked,” Harrold went on, adding, “I think it’s within all of their benefits to actually resolve these ongoing issues.”Returning to the UK at a time of crisis is something that Harry has reportedly been contemplating in recent weeks.Although the father of two, 39, is being kept at arm’s length from ongoing succession talks, it seems as though he could make a swift return to the royal fold as the family navigates several health woes.In fact, it’s his wife, Meghan Markle, who is the “apprehensive” one when it comes to the idea of moving back to Harry’s home soil.Meanwhile, 5,459 miles away in London, Prince William and Princess Anne are taking over the reins from Queen Camilla as she’s set to jet off on a quick vacation following a busy few weeks.King Charles’ wife is said to be “exhausted” from having to take on an extra workload following her husband’s cancer diagnosis.Camilla, 76, has taken on 13 official engagements solo since news of the King’s ailing health came to light.William, the heir to the throne,
