HBO Documentary Films has picked up the worldwide television and streaming rights to doc feature Siempre, Luisabout the work of Luis Miranda, the father of Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda, in his native Puerto Rico.
Luis A. Miranda Jr., a Puerto Rican migrant who helped shape New York politics for over three decades, left Puerto Rico for New York City in the 1970s.
The doc follows Miranda over the course of a year, as his devotion to family and country propel him forward.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is having a busy Sundance. The prolific playwright is in Park City, Utah this week as the interview subject of three documentaries — “Siempre, Luis,” “We Are Freestyle Love Supreme” and “Mucho Mucho Amour” — all premiering at this year’s film festival.
A father-son balancing act that never finds a satisfactory equilibrium, John James' debut doc Siempre, Luis introduces a man, Luis Miranda, whose career as a political power broker would, in some quarters, be considered deserving of a documentary. But this film knows its best shot at attracting viewers lies elsewhere: in Miranda's efforts to mount a Puerto Rico benefit production of the blockbuster musical Hamilton, which happens to have been created by his son Lin-Manuel.
