Joe Sugg has proved that he is quite the quizzer during The Chase Celebrity Special over the weekend, as he nearly managed to beat chaser Paul Sinha and win £201,000 for charity. The YouTube star, who appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, appeared on the show alongside Myles Stephenson, David James and Lucrezia Millarini in the hopes to bag some cash. And while they didn't quite make it, many, including host Bradley Walsh, were shocked by Joe's efforts as he single-handedly put the £200K sum in the bank.
During his turn, Joe managed to get an impressive £8,000 in his cash builder round before he went head-to-head with the chaser, also known as the Sinnerman. He then had the choice to play for the £8,000, make things easier by playing for £1,000 or take the higher and harder offer of £201,000. Joe teased: "If I go for the [the high offer] it could make a viral moment, which is a good thing.
It'd be an incredible amount for charity as well." After picking the higher offer, Joe managed to answer a number of questions correctly, with Bradley telling him: "I wish you luck. You're gonna make history here, mate. If you go through you're making history." He added: "We're gonna go viral.
I better stand next to you if you’re gonna go through! Come on, good luck." Joe's win took the prize fund up to £213,000 for the final group round alongside, with Lucrezia being eliminated.
The remaining three went onto the final chase and answered 18 questions correctly, but in the end, were caught out by the chaser. While they may not have brought home a win, they all received £1,000 each to give to their chosen charity. Joe rose to fame via YouTube, where he created an account under the handle ThatcherJoe, shortly after his sister Zoe
