Giovanni Pernice appeared to reference his ongoing falling out with his Strictly Come Dancing celebrity partner Amanda Abbington. During an appearance on The One Show, Giovanni was asked about his relationships with, and training of his celebrity partners, to which he said: "I'm definitely a perfectionist. "Like everybody else, I like to win.
But for me it's more about bringing the best out of partners, especially if I see that there is talent there. I want to do my job properly." His comments come after Amanda shared that she has been diagnosed with PTSD following her time on the show. Amanda left the contest last October due to "personal reasons", after whispers of a 'feud' between her and Giovanni, and three months later it was reported that the BBC had received a request from Amanda for clips from her dance rehearsals.
Following these reports, a number of comments from Giovanni's previous dancer partners were uncovered with many having spoken about their difficult time with the dancer. His 2016 partner Laura Whitmore previously said that she was “broken” after participating in the competition. "I’m still not ready to talk in depth about my experience on the show," she told Huffington Post in 2018.
"I was placed with a dance partner I was extremely uncomfortable with and in the end I felt broken, I cried every day. And I really was broken, both mentally and physically, by the end." And Good Morning Britain's Ranvir Singh, who was partnered with Giovanni on Strictly in 2020, has previously confessed to suffering "meltdowns" during training. While his 2022 partner Richie Anderson has unfollowed Giovanni on Instagram since their time on the show together.
