Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer, who are known as the Duffer Brothers, are shooting down a theory about the series finale.
After five seasons of fighting demons from The Upside-Down, the Netflix sci-fi series is coming to an end. The show’s fifth and final season was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes and fans have been speculating about how the series will conclude.
One theory that has been circling among the most die-hard fans of the show is that none of the events have ever existed. The theory relies on the main characters playing a big, long and convoluted game of Dungeons and Dragons.
“That is correct. That is the ending…. No,” Matt jokingly told Metro at the West End premiere of Stranger Things: The First Shadow about the fan theory.
Ross added, “That would be the equivalent of, ‘That’s all a dream.’ No, I assure you that is not how we’re going to end the show. We’ve known where we’ve been going for a while. And we feel comfortable with it; hopefully, it satisfies everyone. We’ll see.”
Stranger Things was nearing filming for the fifth and final season when the Hollywood strikes hit that put a pause on production of the series. Following the new contracts for writers and actors, production of the sci-fi series is now scheduled to commence in January.
David Harbour, the actor who plays Jim Hopper, recently hinted at how the series will end.
“The beauty of it is there’s a real ending — things will end in a very real way,” Harbour teased.
Star Millie Bobby Brown has also said she is looking forward to she show finalizing after playing Eleven for five seasons.
“I think I’m ready. It’s been such a huge factor in part of my life, but it’s like graduating high school, it’s like senior year,” she

Let’s face it: from ‘Quantumania,’ to the Victoria Alonso and Jonathan Majors dramas, and “The Marvels,” Marvel Studios had a really bad 2023 (we went over their stressful year in much detail here). At the very least, they’ve ended 2023 on a very good note with “What If…?” season two, a series we gave some really top marks for for its mythical and archetypal writing.
TV fans have been experiencing deja-vu after recent episodes of EastEnders saw six of the Square's female residents team up to dispose of a body after a shocking murder storyline. On Christmas Day, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) stabbed Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) as he strangled her best friend Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), just moments after Denise Fox (Diane Parish) had hit Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) with a wine bottle after he attacked his wife Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal).

The Holiday fans are out in force again this festive season, and some have come up with a haunting new theory about one of best-loved Christmas films. The iconic rom-com movie, which sees women Amanda (played by Cameron Diaz) and Iris (Kate Winslet) decide to swap houses for the season, quickly became one of the most-watched films set at Christmastime when it was released in the early 2000s.

Henson broke down in tears during a SiriusXM interview with Gayle King while promoting her new film, “The Color Purple.” King asked the Oscar and Emmy-nominated actor if she was still thinking about quitting acting, which King had humors of Henson previously saying. Stranger Things. The fan rumour – per Variety – suggests that the events that take place within Stranger Things are not reality, and are instead what happens in a game of Dungeons & Dragons that Mike Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair, Dustin Henderson and Will Byers began playing at the start of the first season.Speaking to Metro, the Duffer Brothers laughed off the theory, first playing along before emphatically shutting it down. Matt joked: “That is correct.
Emmerdale viewers were left raging at the ITV soap's latest plot twist as it appears that Chas Dingle (played by Lucy Pargeter) and her estranged son Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) could end up in a complicated romance with a father and son. Ever since Aaron returned to the village, he's been a far cry from his old self, instead wallowing in grief and self-pity and taking out his anger on his mum. As a result of his lingering resentment over what he perceives to be Chas's role in sister Liv Flaherty's death, Aaron was enraged to discover his mum and vicar Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) developing a friendship in the latest episode.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director “Stranger Things” creators Matt and Ross Duffer are shutting down at least one fan theory about the upcoming ending to their blockbuster Netflix series. On the red carpet for the new “Stranger Things” play in London, the duo went on record to Metro saying the series will not end with a reveal that all the events in the Upside Down were just a dream. One fan theory about the “Stranger Things” ending alleges all the events on screen during the show’s run were actually just the main characters playing an elaborate and very long game of Dungeons and Dragons, a favorite among the characters since the show’s first season.
The Duffer brothers just shot down a prevailing fan theory about how Stranger Things could be ending.
Stranger Things is now a stage play in London and a star-studded crowd stepped out for the world premiere’s opening night performance.
David Benedict “We need something a little theatrical.” Boy, does excited Bob Newby (Christopher Buckley) get his wish. He’s trying to solve a staging problem in “The Dark of the Moon,” the school play he and the other kids are secretly putting on in Hawkins, Ind., in 1959. But audiences watching “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” will likely greet the line with a wry smile because immense, intense theatricality is there for all to see.
the streamer’s freshman attempt at a stage play is a huge, insufferable embarrassment.Mega-fans of the TV series, like me, will be extremely disappointed by how the live show, which opened Thursday night at the Phoenix Theatre in London, epically fails to conjure the magic and small-town charm of the Duffer brothers’ popular creation. Three hours, plus an intermission.

Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer have teased what to expect from the show’s final season.Ahead of filming on the fifth season in January, the Duffer Brothers detailed how the final episodes share some similarities with the first season – now the whole gang is back in Hawkins.“This season – it’s like season one on steroids,” Matt Duffer told the Guardian. “It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun, because everyone’s back together in Hawkins: the boys and Eleven interacting more in line with how it was in season one.“And yes, there may be spin-offs, but the story of Eleven and Dustin and Lucas and Hopper, their stories are done here.”Elsewhere in the interview, Matt and Ross explained how they had been rewatching shows from the past 30 years for tips on “how to land the plane safely”.“Endings of shows are like opening a restaurant in terms of the success-failure rate – there’s an 80 per cent failure rate, I’d say,” Matt said.
