Steve Burton is opening up about returning to General Hospital.
The 53-year-old actor has starred as Jason Morgan on the long-running ABC soap opera on and off since 1991. He was fired from the show after failing to comply with the vaccine policy that was set in place in late 2021 amid the return to work during the pandemic.
In honor of the show’s 60th anniversary, was announced in January 2024 that he would be returning to General Hospital and officially returned to the show on March 4.
In a new interview, Steve talked about returning to the show and shared his hopes for the future.
Keep reading to find out more…“It’s been amazing to come back to the show. It’s always felt like home,” Steve shared with ET. “I love the cast, I love the crew, and life is amazing right now. It really is, truly.”
He also talked about his 2021 firing, saying that his refusal to comply with the vaccine mandate was “something that I felt like I had to do.”
“When another door shuts another one opens and, you know, God has a plan,” Steve explained. “I left and here I am back again, full circle, and it feels great and it’s just an amazing time.”
After his firing from General Hospital, Steve reprised his role as Harris Michaels on the Days Of Our Lives spinoff series Beyond Salem before getting re-hired by General Hospital.
As for his future on General Hospital, Steve said that he would be happy to stay on the show “if it’s on another 60 years.”
