Stephen “tWitch” Boss’ immediate and extended family paid tribute to the late dancer, who died by suicide in December 2022. He was 40 years old.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us,” Boss’ wife, Allison Holker, said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times one day after Boss was found dead in a hotel room in Encino, California. “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”
Holker — who celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary days before his passing — added: “To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt.”
The So You Think You Can Dance: All-Stars alums, who began dating after competing on the dance competition in 2010, shared three children together: Weslie, Maddox and Zaia. (Boss adopted Weslie, whose biological father is an ex of Holker’s.)
“I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory,” Holker continued. “We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children. Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”
In addition to his role as the beloved patriarch of his family, Boss was also a celebrated son, brother and grandson. The TV personality frequently honored his family via social media, and they did the same for him.
“The King of this s—t. Effortless,” his brother Cameron wrote via his Instagram Story on December 15, alongside a video of the Step Up: 3D star dancing. “LONG LIVE STEPHEN TWITCH BOSS.”
