Spider-Man films could stream on Disney+ as part of new Disney and Sony licensing deal

Andrew Garfield is reacting to rumors that he's suiting up as Spider-Man again for . While speaking to ET on Tuesday, the 37-year-old actor set the record straight on whether he will have any part in the upcoming sequel, set to be released on Dec. 17, 2021.

A little over a week ago, it was announced that Netflix and Sony struck a massive deal that would have the streaming platform gain access to the Sony library of films, including exclusive rights to show major Sony releases starting with 2022 theatrical films. At the time, it looked like Sony and Netflix were getting into bed with each other in a way that would really benefit both parties.

Disney and Sony have reached a multi-year deal for the post-pay-1 release window, a pact that will make Spider-Man and other major franchises eligible to stream on Disney+ for the first time.
