The disgraced former Los Angeles city council president said that cutting police funding is a "step" toward ending racism. In the wake of the murder of George Floyd, former Los Angeles City Council President Nury Martinez backed a proposal to slash police funding for the City of Angels.

Variety recently visited the museum and spoke with co-curators Michael Gray, the facility’s executive senior director of editorial and interpretation, and Michael McCall, the museum’s senior editor, about why the ’60s through ’80s were a golden age for country-inflected rock in Los Angeles. The two curators also spoke about a number of the artifacts on display, from numerous Nudie’s-tailored jackets that set the visual tone for the era to key musical instruments to handwritten scores and setlists and even band flyers — see the gallery of photos below.

A California man was kidnapped in broad daylight and remains missing as of Sunday afternoon, according to local reports and police.  The Los Angles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) said two male suspects exited a 2008 silver Infiniti G-35 on Michillinda Avenue near Colorado Boulevard in the Pasadena area Thursday.  Stills of the suspected kidnapping suspects.  (LASD) The suspects were seen attacking a man on a sidewalk and dragging him into the back seat of the Infiniti, FOX 11 reported, citing LASD.  The suspects were last seen driving south on Michillinda Avenue with California license plate number 6FMY326. Anyone with information is asked to call 562-946-7150.  Fox News has reached out to the sheriff’s department for updates in this case.  The kidnapping came just days after a California family that were kidnapped at gunpoint and were missing for days were found dead.  Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke said on Wednesday that their "worst fears have been confirmed" as deputies found the bodies of each of the four family members, including the 8-month-old.

A shooting in Florida left seven people shot with one dead outside a bar. The shooting happened outside the LIT Cigar & Martini Lounge in Tampa, Florida, just before 3 a.m. on Sunday when a large fight broke out, according to FOX 13.

A fifth suspect was arrested Friday morning in California in connection with a body found buried in the Arizona desert, authorities said. Garrett Cole, 31, of Bakersfield, was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for murder, kidnapping and robbery, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona said. Detectives in Bakersfield contacted the sheriff's office about an investigation into a homicide that happened in their jurisdiction last month and said they believed some suspects traveled to Fort Mohave, Ariz., after the murder.

Three men were charged Wednesday with stealing more than $2.6 million in a brazen smash-and-grab robbery at a Beverly Hills jewelry store, federal prosecutors said. Jimmy Lee Vernon III, 31, Ladell Tharpe, 37, and Deshon Bell, 20, all of Long Beach, were each indicted on one count each of conspiracy and interference with commerce by robbery, which carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for each count, the U.S.
