As we begin to slowly transition back to a slightly more normal version of the cinematic world, it’s not too crazy to start thinking about late 2021 releases. After all, by then, most of us should be comfortable being back in movie theaters, so of course one might wonder what films will be waiting for us then.
Now that the Academy Award nominations have been announced, for many, the task becomes checking the films themselves out. Only some of us are Oscar buffs who see everything well in advance.
It was longer than usually, but at long last, the Oscar nominations are here. The field was led this year by Mank, scoring ten citations, with a number of films next in line. More to come, but for now, why not just get right to the good stuff, no? The movies deserve the stage. So, here you go…

Last night, the 26th annual Critics Choice Awards were held (virtually), somewhat putting a bow on the critics phase of the precursor season. Full disclosure, I’m a voting member of the Critics Choice Association, but most of you knew that already.

Last night, the Golden Globe Awards held a bi-coastal event in Los Angeles and New York City, one designed to try and simulate some awards season normalcy. Of course, the 78th ceremony was anything but normal, even if things more or less went off with minimal hitches.
