When you hear the iconic HBO intro sound, it often leads into an epic (aka expensive) drama or a show set in Los Angeles or New York, almost inevitably about rich and/or powerful people. With its second season, the Duplass Brothers-produced “Somebody Somewhere” upends that expectation with its gentle, low-key comedy set in Manhattan — Manhattan, Kansas, that is.

Selome Hailu HBO is seeing solid success in audience size as it sends off two of its most loved series: “Barry” and “Succession,” which are both airing their fourth and final seasons. Episodes 1 and 2 of “Barry” Season 4 have reached an average of 2.5 million viewers since they both debuted on April 16. As previously reported, Episode 1 started at 710,000 viewers while Episode 2 saw 550,000 on premiere night — meaning that delayed viewing on streaming has allowed for an increase of 289%, a near quadruple of the original statistics. Additionally, Sunday’s release of Episode 3 reached 660,000 viewers, which is even with the average viewership of Season 3. These data points are based on a combination of Nielsen’s measurement of linear viewers on HBO’s cable channels and Warner Bros. Discovery’s first-party measurement of streams on HBO Max.

Amon Warmann Guest Contributor On almost any other day, a train car full of Mandalorians, Grand Admiral Thrawns, Ahsokas, and Obi-Wans may have seemed strange. But for the four days of Star Wars Celebration, this was the norm on the 8 a.m. DLR train. Even before you stepped foot inside the event’s vast ExCeL Centre venue in East London, the Star Wars community was well represented, with people of all ages and ethnicities cosplaying as their favorite characters, be they as popular as Darth Vader or as niche as the umbrella-like lightsaber-wielding Sith Lord from “Star Wars: Visions.” If you need a reminder that, sometimes, fandoms can be good, Star Wars Celebration is it. Without the racist backlash against new characters played by people of color, or interminable hate tweets about specific movies, the event showcases the fandom at its best — as a joyous, inventive, inclusive and delightfully weird affair; a place where you’re as likely to stumble upon a mob of prisoner-attired fans chanting “One Way Out!” in unison as you are to witness an Orson Krennic striptease.

Jessica Kiang Watch any of the films that made Jackie Chan a legend and you notice that so much of his graceful, goofball charisma comes from simply having one more move up his sleeve. Whether changing position while sliding down a plate-glass skyscraper or falling off a clock face onto a series of awnings or dispatching multiple assailants with his witty brand of bendy, aerobic kung-fu, only to end on a silly eye-poke or a gymnastic semi-levitation, the star-making flourish is so often the extra thing he does when anyone else would be finished. But what do you do when, nearing 70 and with almost 150 movie performances behind you, there aren’t that many one-more-moves left? Maybe you make something like Larry Yang’s “Ride On,” a sappy but enjoyable slice of family fun that has a nice horse doing wacky tricks for the younger viewers and for parents and older fans, is a gently meta, valedictory canter through the paddock of Chan’s previous achievements.

Since the end of “Game of Thrones” in 2019, star Kit Harington has clearly been very particular with what projects he signs on to do. It makes sense, as his time of ‘Thrones’ dominated his work schedule for years, so now he just wants to do projects that seem worth the time.
