The SNP have appealed to Labour and Liberal Democrat supporters to lend them votes in Tory-held seats at the next General Election to "lock the Tories out of Scotland". The SNP came second in each of the Scottish seats which the Conservatives won in 2019 and believes it can wipe the Tories out of Scotland if enough Labour and Lib Dem supporters get behind them.
The six Tory-held seats in Scotland include Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross' Moray, junior minister Andrew Bowie's West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine and Scotland Secretary Alister Jack's Dumfries and Galloway. Ross has a majority of 513 votes, while Bowie is 843 ahead of the SNP and Jack is 1,805 ahead.
In Ross' seat, if just 11 per cent of Labour and Lib Dem voters had lent their votes to the SNP in 2019, he would have lost. Only 9.8 per cent of Labour and Liberal Democrat votes were needed for the SNP to win in Bowie's seat , while 23 per cent was needed in Jack's seat.
SNP Westminster leader Stephen Flynn said: "Voting SNP is the only way to beat the Tories in Scotland at the next general election - and a strong team of SNP MPs can ensure Scotland holds the balance of power at Westminster.
"The SNP is the main competitor in every Tory-held seat, and the incumbent in every target seat - so a vote for the Labour Party or the Liberal Democrats is a wasted vote that risks letting the Tories in the back door, just like it did last time.
"In 2019, the SNP halved the number of Tory seats in Scotland - and at this election we can finish the job but only if enough Labour and Liberal Democrat supporters lend the SNP their votes. "By voting SNP, we can lock the Tories out of Scotland at this election - and rid ourselves of Westminster Tory governments for good with

Manori Ravindran Executive Editor of International In Britain, schoolchildren learning about Tudor history are taught a handy rhyme to remember the order of King Henry VIII’s six wives: “Divorced, beheaded, died. Divorced, beheaded, survived.” Hollywood has for decades been transfixed by the “beheaded” and “died” bits — essentially, the stories about women suffering — but what moviegoers are rarely reminded of is the wife who outlived Henry. In Karim Aïnouz’s hotly anticipated “Firebrand,” it’s the notorious Tudor king’s final companion, Katherine Parr, who finally takes center stage. “What’s mostly been dramatized are the wives who didn’t make it,” says Swedish star Alicia Vikander, who plays the surviving queen opposite Jude Law’s ailing monarch. “[When I read the script] I immediately thought, ‘Huh, isn’t it interesting that most people know more about the other wives.’ It’s almost like people are drawn to quite grim stories.”
