(CNN) — Snoop Dogg has offered a public apology to Gayle King after days of backlash over questions she asked about the late basketball legend Kobe Bryant.

The rapper took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a video apology, and to invite the journalist to "sit down and talk" with him following his criticism of her asking WNBA star Lisa Leslie about Kobe Bryant's sexual assault case.

Snoop Dogg, 48, is taking responsibility for his actions when it comes to his shocking criticism over Gayle King‘s Good Morning America interview with Lisa Leslie, 47, which aired on Feb. 4 The rapper got angry when the successful 65-year-old journalist asked the basketball legend about the late Kobe Bryant‘s 2003 rape case, but on Feb. 12, he came forward to issue a public apology and expressed remorse for his actions.

Snoop Dogg had a chat with his mom, and realized that "2 wrongs don't make it right."

Gayle King has received an outpouring of support from fellow journalists and a few celebrities following the intense backlash she received for her recent interview with Lisa Leslie, in which she asked the WNBA player about her close friend, Kobe Bryant's, 2003 sexual assault accusation.

Snoop Dogg, who caught heat over the weekend for seeming to have threatened Gayle King in an Instagram video post, is now insisting the message was misinterpreted, saying, “I don’t want no harm to come to her, and I didn’t threaten her. All I did was say, ‘Check it out. You out of pocket for what you doing, and we watching you.'”

CBS News came to the defense of one of its star anchors Saturday after morning host Gayle King was subjected to threats of violence by entertainer Snoop Dogg and others in the wake of an interview in which one of her questions pertained to a sexual assault charge against the late Kobe Bryant.
