In pictures that will delight Royal fans, The Queen was pictured smiling broadly on Tuesday as she met new Prime Minister Liz Truss at Balmoral. Wearing a grey cardigan and pleated tartan skirt, the monarch leant on a walking stick for support but was standing as she held an audience with the incoming prime minister and invited her to form a government.
As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continue their visit to Europe, the country’s new prime minister swept onto the Queen’s private Scottish estate in a chauffeur-driven car with her husband Hugh O’Leary.The Queen decided not to travel to London to receive Boris Johnson and his successor at Buckingham Palace as she normally would have - and instead invited them to Balmoral. The Queen traditionally holds audiences with outgoing and incoming premiers at Buckingham Palace.There is also expected to be a virtual Privy Council meeting tomorrow.
Before heading to meet the Queen, Boris and his wife Carrie spent time saying goodbye and shaking hands with colleagues before making the journey to Balmoral. Carrie, wore an elegant £495 pink floral backless dress from Harmur.
British brand Harmur, which specialises in backless tops and silk gowns.The brand was founded by London-based sisters Constance and Matilda Murphy and their mother Minnie Hartley in 2017. The former Prime Minster then spent almost 40 minutes with the Queen before leaving Balmoral a few minutes before midday.
