Six teams in contention for developing area only minutes from city centre

Six teams have been shortlisted by the Manchester City Council to submit tenders to develop a new Neighbourhood Development Framework (NDF) for Holt Town.
Located between Ancoats and New Islington, Holt Town is being labelled as a new opportunity for a safe neighbourhood just minutes from the city centre.
It is hoped that the long-term investment plan will have improved access to green spaces and canals.

Along with improvements to access, celebrations of the industrial heritage of the locals are due to help increase biodiversity.
The six selected teams to be the lead consultants are:
• Allies and Morrison
• Gensler
• Macreanor Lavington
• Plan-It
• Prior and Partners
• Studio Egret Wes
All of the teams are now in the process of completing their submissions to the council due in January 2024.
The selected organisation will be announced in Spring 2024 and will then work on proposals straight after the consultation and necessary planning approvals.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Bev Craig said: "Holt Town has been for many years the missing piece of the jigsaw between the city centre and the major investment in east Manchester.
“As such, we have big ambitions for this neighbourhood and we are looking for a team who can match our vision.
