The family of a mum who took her own life have told how she was "smiling and happy" just 30 minutes before she was rushed to hospital.
Lauren Galloway, 32, attempted suicide at her home in Saltcoats on the morning of Saturday, April 29 - shortly after her sister Dionne had visited her for a catch-up.
She died in the intensive care unit at Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock three days later. Dionne, 28, said there were no obvious signs that Lauren was struggling.
She told the Record: "We can't process what happened. We are still in complete shock. I was with her half an hour earlier, just having a catch-up.
"She was a trainee nurse and she had just got a new job. She was smiling. There were no signs of what was about to happen, otherwise I would never have left her."
Mum-of-two Lauren was discovered in her home by the sisters' grandmother.
Dionne then received a call from their other sister Megan, to tell her what had happened as paramedics battled to save her life. But Lauren could not be saved and passed away on Tuesday, May 2.
Mum-of-three Dionne continued: "We had to watch her slowly deteriorate for three days in ICU. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. None of us could comprehend what was happening. Then eventually they had to turn off the machines that were keeping her alive."
Dionne is sharing Lauren's story to raise awareness of mental health issues and to urge those who are struggling to speak out.
Dionne added: "Don't ever underestimate what is behind someone's smile and please speak out if you need help. Lauren loved to smile and laugh.
"She could have spoken to any one of us and we would have been there for her, but she chose not to and now she's not here. I just don't want another family to have to go through

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic It’s difficult to know whether Lainey Wilson would be as big a star as she’s recently become in the field of country music without the visibility boost she’s received from “Yellowstone.” The series began featuring her songs in season 2, a few years before Lainey was cast for a recurring role as a musician in season 5. The most likely answer: She’d probably be almost as big, even without the Taylor Sheridan factor. After all, it’s not a TV show that came up with the combination of country-rock singing chops, irresistible Louisiana accent and gosh-dang gung-ho that have captivated listeners to the point that, in short succession, she’s racked up four No. 1 Mediabase radio singles and been one of the leading winners at the CMA and ACM awards shows.

Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large Marc Maron’s recent HBO standup special “From Bleak to Dark,” yes, touches on subjects that might be considered bleak and dark. But of course, it’s much more than that. Sure, Maron opens the special by pointing out that society seems to be on a collision course with disaster, and there’s little that can be done about it. But, as the comedian, actor and podcaster tells Variety‘s Awards Circuit Podcast, he’s just being a realist. “There’s a truth to it,” he says. “And I think that the first 15 or 20 minutes of that special addresses a lot of things in in a fairly broad way, because I wanted it to have some longevity. The negative things I talk about aren’t going anywhere. But also framing the special like that, like ‘I don’t want to be negative, I don’t think anything’s ever gonna get better ever again,’ is an acceptance. If you have acceptance around that, it gives you a bit of freedom of mind. There’s a sort of ‘zero fuckness’ to it.”
