Makeup trends come and go, but the classic cat eye is one that has never gone out of style. There’s just something about making your eyes pop with a feline flick that has stood the test of time. One of the most talked about makeup trends of the moment is essentially a spin on your classic cat eye for a more seductive and smokey silhouette: “siren eyes”. Named after the alluring Greek mythical creature, it’s all about creating a super sultry and sharp wing shape using eyeshadow, liner or both – think Megan Fox, Emily Ratajkowski and supermodels like Naomi Campbell.
While similar to the cat eye, it tends to be smokier and more blended rather than being one slick line. At the time of writing, the siren eyes hashtag has already racked up an enormous 295 million views and counting on TikTok, so the look really is taking over. As well as involving an elongated wing, many looks on the app also factor in a sharp inner corner, or even connect the liner back to the crease for a bolder look.
In one viral TikTok video that’s racked up 1.2 million likes alone, beauty content creator Danielle Marcan shows users how to create the “mysterious” eye look. Her top tip? Wiping the edge of the shadow to make sure the edges of your blended shadow or pencil are really sharp before you add a highlighting shade and mascara. If you want to follow along and get the look yourself, Danielle confirmed she used a Charlotte Tilbury pencil – most likely Rock ‘n’ Kohl Eye Cheat Pencil in Bedroom Black, £21 here.
