Simon Cowell pressed his golden buzzer for "amazing" comedian Axel Blake during Sunday's instalment of Britain's Got Talent. At the start of the audition, Axel said: "My name's Axel Blake and I'm from West London. I've got a 12-year-old son, he's in the audience, so I just wanted him to believe in yourself.
Put your mind to it and you can make it happen." Axel, who works in property maintenance, soon left the judging panel — made up of Simon, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams — in hysterics with his jokes, which included topical topics such as Covid. As Axel finished his set with a grin, the entire panel and audience gave a standing ovation for the contestant.
"A comedy superstar is born tonight on that stage," David declared. "So funny, you made it all seem so effortless. "You've got a wonderful, such a likeable personality.
And everything you said was brilliantly funny and original. I loved it Axel." Simon then gushed over the routine as he praised: "Super super super confident, the first person who has ever made a joke about Covid and it was funny. "I know it's a bit of a cliche but after everything everybody has been through over the last couple of years we needed this show back on air and we needed acts like you." While it seemed Axel was going straight through with four yeses, Simon went even further.
