Westlife star Shane Filan's mum died yesterday. Mae Filan died peacefully in North West Hospice in County Sligo in Ireland where she lived, and is survived by husband Peter and her six children.
She was mum to Finbarr, Peter, Yvonne, Liam, Denise, Mairéad and Shane. Mae was well known for getting on the phone to music titan Louis Walsh to convince him to give Westlife a shot, which led to lad Shane, now 40, seeing a meteoric rise to stardom and global musical renown.
