The self-righteous new movie “Greed,” named after one of the seven deadly sins, is guilty of a few of them itself.
They are, in a word, massive. They stretch from Johnny Flynn's ear area almost all the way across his face, stopping just short of the chin. I think the technical term for them is "mutton chops," but that's gross, so I'm not going to use it. All of this is to say that I have questions about these sideburns, and I'm going to ask them here, because I can.

All Jane Austen’s heroines are clever, but Anya Taylor-Joy brings an unusually sharp edge to her rendition of Emma Woodhouse in “Emma.” Maybe it’s the lingering influence of Taylor-Joy’s sociopathic character in 2017’s underrated “Thoroughbreds.” At any rate, she’s the standout in this likable adaptation. It’s notable that this version’s title is adorned with a period; I’m not sure the definitive gesture is entirely warranted, but I admire its confidence.
