Seann Walsh has shared that he is still suffering from trauma after his 2018 appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, where he was caught up in a scandal when pictured kissing his dance partner Katya Jones, despite both being in relationships.
The comedian, 38, opened up this week about how he doesn't like to be reminded of the show and doesn't ever dance. He even struggles when seeing 'Strictly No Parking' signs on the road, as the word reminds him of the time, during which he was caught up in a media storm.
"I do not dance. What it is more actually is when you turn up to any car park or something, and it says, 'Strictly No Parking'.
I still just go, 'Arghh', every time I see it," he told Russell Howard on the Wonderbox podcast. Seann, who became a dad last year, added: "I can hear the word — like a dog hearing something — I can just hear the word strictly and I still go, 'Arghh!'" His kiss with Katya was particularly shocking as Katya was married to fellow Strictly professional dancer Neil Jones, while Seann was in a five-year relationship with actress Rebecca Humphries, who he was living with at the time.
Before the scandal, Seann was a successful stand-up comedian, touring the country with several successful shows and appearing on TV comedy staples such as Live at the Apollo and Mock The Week, but the incident changed everything and Seann's popularity dwindled. Adding that he went back to work "too soon", Seann told Russell that he was trying to fight the ordeal: "I went back too soon — that's for sure.
You've got to kind of let audiences, or the public, almost let them get over it. But I wanted to kind of fight it." The comedian went under the radar in the years following, before appearing on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out
