Citizens Advice Scotland social justice spokesperson David Hilferty said: “Everyone is feeling the squeeze of the cost-of-living crisis, and previous research for Citizens Advice Scotland found 9 in 10 of us are worried about food prices. The cost of essentials continues to rise and incomes are coming close to matching them.
“CAB advisers see far too many horrific examples of people having to choose between heating and eating, and warmer weather over the summer doesn’t mean that spending choices become easier.
“In fact, for families with school age children it may be even more challenging without access to free school meals during the week or the childcare aspect of school."
