A former soldier told his partner he’d kill her after she threatened to send a photo of them in bed together to his new lover.
Robert Scoular slept with the woman who had begun to suspect he was cheating on her, a court heard.
While he was asleep, she took a photo of them in bed while he was in a “state of undress”.
When she later threatened to send the image to the other woman, Scoular told her: “I’m killing you.”
Scoular, 39, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday and admitted a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour.
His defence agent Chris Fehily said Scoular and his ex-partner had been in a “very turbulent relationship” for a number of years.
Mr Fehily said it was “not to his credit” but his client had formed a new relationship while continuing to see her.
Scoular called his long-standing partner to ask for a lift, the solicitor said, and they ended up sleeping together at her Edinburgh home.
The court was told the woman had “suspicions” that Scoular was seeing someone else.
Mr Fehily said she’d got out of bed and checked Scoular’s phone before finding “evidence” of him being unfaithful.
He said she got back in bed and took photos of herself with a sleeping Scoular.
The court was told the woman later phoned Scoular and threatened to send them to his new partner.
Earlier in the hearing, fiscal depute Christine Brownlie said the woman told Scoular she’d send the images.
Scoular replied, “Crack on”, the prosecutor said, then added: “I’m killing you.”
Ms Brownlie said the call on September 28 2020 was being recorded by the woman and her pal.
Mr Fehily said he wasn’t downplaying what Scoular said, but it was an “empty and idle threat”.
He added the woman behaved in an “outrageous manner” where she “took photos of him
