A Scots family fled their home in terror after a devastating fire broke out.
The blaze ripped through a block of flats on Breadalbane Street in Edinburgh at around 4am on Wednesday, March 13.
John and his wife Kayley Lake, who is currently six months pregnant, and their two-year-old-son Ben, were evacuated from their home along with around 100 more residents.
Up to 70 firefighters, twelve fire appliances and a number of specialist resources were dispatched to the scene.
John told Edinburgh Live: "It was around 4am that the alarm went off, but we get false alarms in the building quite often.
"Usually the alarm stops and it did so we went back to bed.
"The secondary alarm went off about 30 minutes later. I got up and looked out and saw a huge fire roaring up the side of the building.
"We grabbed Ben and we left the building."
Once the family made it to safety outside they watched as the fire spread, with parts of the building falling off.
He continued: "We were cold and it was emotional, we weren't going to watch our home burn. We got a taxi to my cousin's. The outpouring of support since has been mind-blowing.
"We're both full time workers and we have a good network of friends and family in Edinburgh, so we're really grateful for that."
The couple currently don't know what damage the blaze has caused to their home or when they will be able to return.
John added: "The emergency services were amazing. - the information that was coming and the help we were given at the scene. They set up food and drinks really quickly."
Two firefighters were treated at the scene after they sustained "minor injuries' tackling the blaze but there were no reported casualties involving members of the public.

As Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, celebrates his 60th birthday on March 10, 2024, his profile within the British monarchy has surged, particularly in the wake of King Charles III's health crisis and other family controversies. Edward and his much-admired wife, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, stand in stark contrast to the family’s black sheep. These include Edward’s brother Prince Andrew, sullied by the Epstein scandal, and toxic Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who must be kept at arm's length lest the family’s private affairs be sold to the highest bidder for financial enrichment and maximum damage infliction. Edward is the youngest child of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
After a difficult few years for the Royal Family with the deaths of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and the reduced number of working royals following the departures of the Duke of York and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, one royal has truly stepped up to the plate. Known for carrying on his father's role with the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme and his passions for the arts, Prince Edward has truly come into his own in the last few years and become a key source of support for The King.
The Duke of Edinburgh is one of the hardest working members of the Royal Family and often goes without the worthy recognition. Prince Edward and his wife Sophie make up two of the seven-strong line up of senior royals who can represent The King - alongside the Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Princess Royal. While Prince Edward was incredibly important to his mother, the late Queen, and was often regarded as one of her closest family members, his time growing up at Buckingham Palace sounds far from perfect.
