Scots alt-rock trio Fatherson have already ticked off some of the best venues in Scotland in their career - and now they’re ready to bring the atmosphere to Stirling Castle for the Summer Sessions.
The Kilmarnock band, made up of lead singer Ross Leighton alongside bassist Marc Strain and drummer Greg Walkinshaw, will take to the stage as part of a blockbuster night of music at City Park on June 27.
Since forming in 2010, Fatherson have become one of the most well-followed bands in Scottish music supporting acts including Biffy Clyro, Frightened Rabbit, Panic at the Disco and Feeder before moving on to sell out their own shows.
Those talents have taken them to iconic spots including the Liquid Rooms in Edinburgh and the Barrowlands in Glasgow, alongside making appearances at both T in the Park and Trnsmt.
It has even led them to performing in the ramparts of Edinburgh Castle alongside legends Travis - and now Ross insists it’s time to tick off another historic site as they perform in the shadow of Stirling Castle later this month.
Ross told the Observer: “It’s going to be a really cool setting, we’ve never played there before and just as a Scottish person to be playing there is great.
“Coming from Kilmarnock, going to somewhere like Stirling Castle would be a bit of a day out so doing a gig there will be a different feeling.
“We used to play in Stirling quite a bit when we had some friends up at Stirling Uni, I remember some gigs with Bulge Promotions at Cape in the city and the Tolbooth is a great venue as well so it will be nice to be back.”
They are part of a bill which also features pop superstar James Arthur, double Eurovision winner Loreen and Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist and former Red Hot Chilli Piper Cammy Barnes.
