Netflix‘s dramatization of Prince Andrew‘s infamous Newsnight interview has taken its next step with launch of first trailer. Scroll down to watch.
Coming a few days after a set of first-look images, Scoop’s trailer shows Gillian Anderson as the notorious Emily Maitlis, whose grilling of Prince Andrew on the BBC led to an enormous humiliation for the prince, who has since settled a sexual assault case filed against him by Jeffrey Epstein-accuser Virginia Giuffre.
In the trailer, Maitlis can be seen striding towards the camera as the team prepares to roll on what became one of the most shocking British TV interviews of all time.
Maitlis is joined in Scoop, which launches April 5, by Rufus Sewell, who plays the prince, and Billie Piper, who plays Sam McAlister, the author of the source material that the movie is based on. Others featuring in the film include Romola Garai, Keeley Hawes and Aoife Hinds.
Production started a year ago. Philip Martin (The Crown) is directing. Scoop is produced by Hilary Salmon and Radford Neville for The Lighthouse Film & Television, with Sanjay Singhal for Voltage TV.
To get an interview this big, you have to be bold.
