Santa Monica & Beverly Hills Extend Curfews; Los Angeles City & County Expected To Follow

The ACLU of Southern California on Wednesday filed suit against the city and county of Los Angeles and the city of San Bernadino over the curfews imposed in the areas in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death. The suit was filed on behalf of Black Lives Matter Los Angeles and four individual plaintiffs.

Los Angeles County and several cities in the area extended curfew orders on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning as protests are again scheduled in some areas of Southern California. Los Angeles pushed back its curfew time from the 6 p.m.

Jaime King revealed she was arrested while protesting outside the Los Angeles mayor’s home. The star joined more than 1,000 who gathered outside Mayor Eric Garcetti’s residence in Hancock Park on Tuesday to demand that the Los Angeles Police Department undergo systemic changes in the wake of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minn.The “Sin City” actress took to Twitter to reveal that she was arrested while protesting peacefully.

As cities across the nation reel from the juxtaposition of events related to the brutal murder of George Floyd amind a global pandemic, more stay at home curfew orders have been issue and West Hollywood has led the way for Los Angeles.

Santa Monica and Beverly Hills have continued curfews into Monday in response to the ongoing protests sparked by the killing of George Floyd, setting 1 p.m. curfews for business districts and 4 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. curfews for the rest of their respective cities.

Ariana Grande left quarantine and joined a Black Lives Matter protest in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood on Saturday to advocate for an end to racial violence and police brutality after the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer.
