SAG-AFTRA Membership Ratifies New Netflix Contract by Overwhelming 89%

Netflix‘s latest true crime documentary series, Sins Of Our Mother.The three-part show follows the story of Lori Vallow Daybell – nicknamed the ‘Doomsday Mom’ – as she falls into a cult-like religious obsession that ends in the arrest of her and husband Chad Daybell. It focuses on her life as she meets religious preacher Daybell, whom she goes on to marry.She has been accused of the murder of two of her children, Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow, as well as conspiracy to murder her fourth husband.She and fifth husband Daybell have denied involvement, and are awaiting trial for first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder after their arrest in February 2020.

Filming has been taking place in Bolton town centre this week ahead of a new Netflix crime thriller series set to air next year on the streaming platform. Crews have been seen shooting scenes for Bodies, an adaptation of a graphic novel by Si Spencer.

Gene Maddaus Senior Media Writer SAG-AFTRA members have voted overwhelmingly to approve a new contract with Netflix that allows actors more freedom to work on shows on other platforms. The union announced that 89.03% voted in favor of the agreement, which is expected to cover the next four years. The union had been focused on addressing “exclusivity,” under which TV actors have generally been blocked from working on other shows during hiatus periods. Under the new agreement, Netflix will have to designate a three-month period after each season — “a conflict-free window” — during which actors will be allowed to work on any show they want.

Members of SAG-AFTRA have voted resoundingly to ratify a new contract with Netflix. According to the guild, the vote was 89.03% in favor of ratification, although it didn’t release the actual vote count or how many of its 171,000+ members voted.

The show was originally ordered to series at Netflix in 2020. The series debuted to a mixed critical response, registering just a 55% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes coupled with a 27% audience approval rating. Per the weekly Netflix Top 10 rankings that the streamer issues, “Resident Evil” was streamed for over 72 million hours the week it debuted, making it the number two program of the week behind only “Stranger Things” Season 4. It dropped to number three in its second week and fell out of the top 10 by week 3.
