Rylan Clark is being replaced on his BBC Radio 2 show by Paddy McGuinness. Rylan will be off for four weeks in February, while Paddy promises to bring an "endless supply of dad jokes" to the Saturday afternoon radio show. This news comes as Rylan has revealed a surprise career change – he'll be performing at Henley Festival in July with stars including Gladys Knight, Sam Ryder, and Nicole Scherzinger.
Paddy's shows will still have the regular quiz Couch Potatoes, where listeners test their film and TV knowledge.
The Winning At Life segment will also continue, where listeners share their recent successes. Paddy shared: "I'm really excited to be taking over the reins of Rylan's show and keeping his seat warm for four weeks. I can't wait to bring the fun, and an endless supply of dad jokes, to Radio 2 every Saturday." Paddy has experience stepping in for other hosts.
He hosted a quiz on Vernon Kay's mid-morning show for several shows in November while Vernon was running an ultra ultra-marathon for Children In Need. Paddy McGuinness, known for hosting shows like Take Me Out and I Can See Your Voice, has also been the face of Top Gear until it was recently put on hold. He took over from Sue Barker as the host of A Question Of Sport in 2021 before it was cancelled last year.
Paddy is a dad to three kids, Felicity, and twins Leo and Penelope, who he shares with his ex-wife Christine McGuinness. Helen Thomas, Head of BBC Radio 2, praised Paddy saying: "Paddy did a great job presenting Ten To The Top for Vernon Kay whilst he took on his Ultra Ultramarathon Challenge for BBC Children In Need last year. He was warmly welcomed by the listeners so it's wonderful to welcome him back to Radio 2 to sit in for Rylan on Saturday afternoons
