Ryan Gosling knows that Ken gives credit where it is due, and he’s doing the same when it comes to his style in Barbie.
That means that the actor is shouting out BTS member Jimin, who wore one of Ken’s looks in a music video two years before the movie’s premiere.
He took to social media to shout out the hitmaker and to offer him a gift in return for borrowing the distinctive outfit. Ryan even revealed who he thought wore it better!
Head inside to see which of Jimin’s looks Ryan Gosling replicated in Barbie…
The look in question is a Western shirt with white fringe and floral detailing. Ryan styled it with a white cowboy hat and bright pink bandana while wearing it next to Margot Robbie‘s Barbie. Meanwhile, Jimin wore the shirt in BTS‘ “Permission to Dance” music video.
“Hi, Jimin. It’s Ryan Gosling here. I noticed that your ‘Permission to Dance’ outfit was the same as my Ken outfit in the upcoming movie Barbie,” Ryan acknowledged in a video shared on Twitter.
He continued, saying, “I have to give it to you — you wore it first. You definitely wore it best, and there’s an unspoken Ken code that if you bite another Ken’s style, you have to give them your most prized possession.”
What did Ryan have to offer? Ken’s glossy guitar. “Ken doesn’t really play anyway, so, it’ll be much better in your hands,” he added.
No word yet if Jimin accepted the offering, but we’ll keep you updated if we learn more.
Barbie premieres on July 21. Do you know what critics are saying about it?

Barbie director Greta Gerwig has revealed how she got Ryan Gosling to perform a track for the film’s soundtrack. The director was speaking as part of a new interview with Rolling Stone when she reflected on the song ‘I’m Just Ken’ – a track from the film performed by the leading actor. In the discussion, she admitted that she initially believed that he would have been reluctant to perform the song, and therefore took a very specific approach to convincing him to do it.“He has a beautiful voice, and he’s a beautiful dancer. We kind of got there organically.
movie in theaters, odds are you walked away with feelings of empowerment, some existential dread and, of course, some major fashion inspiration. We're still drooling over Margot Robbie's archival Chanel outfits, President Barbie's pink power suits and Doctor Barbie's sparkling mini dress, but one particular piece from the film really caught our eye: the «I Am Kenough» hoodie worn by Ryan Gosling's Ken.We won't spoil anything for you, but the internet is absolutely obsessed with Ken's rainbow tie-dye hoodie — so obsessed that the official Mattel version is already sold out (but still available for pre-order). Thankfully, plenty of Etsy and Amazon vendors have hopped on the trend and created their own versions of the viral sweatshirt.Whether you're looking for a comfy but still on-theme Barbiecore outfit for upcoming screenings, an early Halloween costume or an inspirational hoodie for lounging around, we've found the best merch for bringing out your Ken-ergy.

plot forward in “Barbie” — and Rob Thomas loves it.Matchbox Twenty’s frontman weighed in on the inclusion of 1996’s “Push” in the new “Barbie” movie — admitting he was worried at first about it being a joke, but has since recognized it’s a clever callout.Ken (Ryan Gosling) plays the track for hours on end on his guitar for Barbie (Margot Robbie) while sitting around a campfire. The scene (and song) is a pivotal point in the film, pushing an ego-bruised Ken to embrace toxic masculinity and take over Barbie Land — which Thomas praised as a perfect choice.“I want to preface this by saying that I thought it was hilarious. But in ‘Bring It On,’ [Kirsten Dunst’s character] has this douchey boyfriend.
Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas is sharing his thoughts on the iconic moment when Ryan Gosling covers the band's 1996 hit track, «Push.»Performed by Gosling (Ken), the stellar scene features Gosling sitting around a campfire and strumming his guitar as he sings the song at Margot Robbie (Barbie) for hours on end.The hilarious scene marks a turning point in the film, as Barbie and her fellow dolls attempt to distract the Kens and take back Barbieland. After a visit to the real world, Gosling's Ken transformed the land into «Kendom,» a patriarchal world filled with all the things he thinks make a man — horses, sports, Sylvester Stallone style and very much included. Speaking about the song's use in the film, Thomas told he was initially worried that the rock group might become the butt of a joke.
Barbie movie, but the real team looks a little different. In Greta Gerwig’s new film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling – which has been praised for its feminist message and storytelling – the chair of the all-male board is played by Will Ferrell. The actor pops up in the film to “play the dim-witted CEO”, as NME wrote a four-star review. The real Chairman and CEO of Mattel, Ynon Kreiz, is indeed male, but does sit alongside female board members, too.According to the Mattel website, the real Board Of Directors currently consists of six men and five women, who comprise “global leaders from various fields and industries, with a broad and diverse range of experiences and perspectives required to provide independent governance and oversee the execution of our long-term strategy”.The feminist messaging of Barbie has been a key topic of discussion after opening weekend (July 21).America Ferrera, who plays Mattel executive Gloria, revealed that one of the most pivotal sequences of dialogue – about the double standards women face – took 30 to 50 takes to film.“It worked on the page, and so I definitely wanted to give that feeling to the audience as the person performing it— to make it resonate the way that it did with me when I read the words on the page,” Ferrera told Vanity Fair. The actor said that while it “felt like” 500 takes, it was probably closer to 30 to 50 “full runs”.In other Barbie news, it was recently revealed that the marketing budget was more than it cost to make the film.According to Variety, the marketing budget for the film was a staggering $150million (£117m), eclipsing the $145million (£113m) it cost to actually make the film itself.Elsewhere, Robbie has said she was teased by her friends for not having a
Margot Robbie‘s Barbie is the biggest movie of the summer and is already breaking box office records for the year.
Margot Robbie has said she was teased by her friends for not having a kissing scene with her Barbie co-star Ryan Gosling. In the film directed by Greta Gerwig, Barbie (Robbie) and Ken (Gosling) never share a kiss on screen, which became a source of ridicule in Robbie’s circle of friends.Asked by People whether she was happy she didn’t have to fully kiss Gosling in the film, Robbie, who also served as a producer, said: “Uh no! That didn’t feel like a win for me.“All of my girlfriends were like, ‘Well you did a whole movie with him and you don’t kiss? What’s wrong with you? I thought you were kind of in charge on this one!’”She added: “I was like, ‘I know, I can’t check that one off [my list].’”Gosling, however, was happy with how they navigated their relationship. “It was so funny trying to figure out what their idea of kissing might be,” the actor said.
Ryan Gosling’s Ken may play second fiddle in the new ‘Barbie’ movie, but according to Margot Robbie, who plays the titular character in the summer blockbuster, “The Notebook” heartthrob’s lips were the real star of the film, which pulled down $22.3 million ahead of opening weekend — all without a single smooch between the two leads. Robbie admitted to People in June that not being able to kiss Gosling on-screen “didn’t feel like a win to me.”Robbie’s friends took the news even harder than her, having high hopes from the beginning that the producer of the film could work some on-screen magic in her favor.

It felt unsustainable,” the “La La Land” actor told the outlet.
